Wrexham: Boss Parkinson confident, but cautious as his side rise into top six

Phil Parkinson insists Wrexham have the belief they can stay in the Championship play-off places after entering the top six for the first time this season.

But the man who steered the Hollywood-owned club to three promotions in a row warned there will be no loss of focus after a significant jump up the table.

A breathtaking injury-time at Loftus Road lifted the north Wales side to sixth as goals from Josh Windass and Ollie Rathbone completed a 3-2 comeback win over QPR.

It is not only the highest Wrexham have been since moving up to the Championship last summer, but the highest they have been at this stage of a season in the club’s history.

Given the dramatic nature of the win, Parkinson said it would be remiss for players and fans not to enjoy the moment.

But he said: “It’s where you are at the end of the season that matters.

“Everyone can see it’s so tight and that’s why you can’t get too low and you can’t get too high.

“I know that’s an old saying, but the minute you take your eye the ball in this division, you can find yourself tumbling down the league.

“There’s so many teams that fancy their chances of getting in that top six. Of course we’ve got belief we can do it, but it’s important we keep our focus – which we will do.”
