A woman has been arrested eight years after a man died from injuries he received during a robbery at his home.

Tommy Ward, 80, was found badly beaten at the property on Salisbury Road, Maltby, Rotherham, on 1 October 2015. He died five months later.

Police said a safety deposit box containing around £30,000 in cash, the former miner’s life savings, was also taken during the incident.

A force spokesperson said a woman, 36, from Rotherham, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.
