King Charles III and Queen Camilla landed in Washington DC on Monday for their first state visit to the United States. It is the first such visit by the reigning monarch to the US since Queen Elizabeth II met President George W Bush in 2007.

After landing at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, the royals were greeted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the White House. They proceeded to take part in an afternoon tea.

They later participated in a time capsule ceremony at the British Embassy to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, before ending the day with a garden party.
