Watford Women set for Vicarage Road return in title push

Watford Women are to play their final two home games of the season at Vicarage Road after a 14-0 win put them in pole position to earn promotion to WSL 2.

Madison Perry scored five goals and Coral Haines contributed a hat-trick as they overwhelmed Billericay Town in Sunday’s match in Essex.

Megan Chandler (two), Poppy Wilson, Annie Rossiter, Flo Fyfe and Lucy Lyon were also on the scoresheet, Lyon finding the net with a brilliant overhead kick.

They are one point clear at the top of Women’s National League Southern Premier with five to play – and have a game in hand on second-placed Plymouth Argyle.

Only two of those matches will be at home but they will take on Exeter City (29 March) and AFC Bournemouth (26 April) at Watford FC.

Renee Hector’s side drew a crowd of more than 2,000 to Vicarage Road for a game against Plymouth last season and hope to beat that record.

“We can’t wait to be back at The Vic for these two huge games,” said head of women’s football Helen Ward.

“The record attendance we set last season is in our sights as we make the final push for promotion.”

Only the champions will go up to the second tier for 2026-27.
