Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has resigned as Labour leader and Andy Burnham has been sworn in as MP for Makerfield.

Speaking outside No 10 this morning, Starmer thanked his wife in an emotional speech, after describing becoming prime minister as the “proudest moment” of his life.
