Watch: Drink-driver swerves across A140 in Suffolk before arrest

Footage of a drink-driver who was more than five times over the limit repeatedly swerving across the A140 in Suffolk has been released by police.

Suffolk Police were called to reports of a car being driven erratically between Brome and Yaxley on 29 March, with the caller recording and following the vehicle as it strayed into the verge and crossed into oncoming traffic.

The force said the driver failed a roadside breath test and was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he blew 196 micrograms (mg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Ipswich Magistrates’ Court disqualified the 41-year-old man from driving for three years, which will be reduced by 36 weeks upon the completion of a driving course. He was also ordered to pay £949 in financial penalties.
