Vitor Pereira: Wolves head coach fined £15,000 for misconduct

Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira has been fined £15,000 for an incident of misconduct during the club’s Premier League draw with Brighton on 5 October.

Pereira, 57, admitted to an FA charge of acting in an improper manner in the 19th minute of the fixture.

The Portuguese was sent off by referee Jarred Gillett after he kicked a spare match ball in the direction of the dugout, which struck an individual.

Pereira avoided a touchline ban after a sporting sanction was not deemed necessary by an independent regulatory commission.

However, it was decided the incident justified a greater financial sanction than a £8,000 fine for a ‘standard case’.

Pereira issued an apology at his next press conference, saying: “I know football is emotional, and I’m an emotional guy.

“But my behaviour was not proper. I kicked a ball and it cannot happen again. I apologise.”

Wolves are bottom of the Premier League and winless after eight matches, before they host promoted side Burnley on Sunday (14:00 GMT).
