Van driver sentenced after M27 motorway chase in Hampshire

A van driver has been sentenced after admitting dangerous driving following a police chase along a motorway.

Samson Biddle was seen serving across three lanes of the M27 in Hampshire on 19 November, narrowly missing several other vehicles.

Video footage showed him failing to stop for police and continuing to drive dangerously, ignoring red lights and mounting pavements.

He was given a six-month jail sentence, suspended for two years and disqualified for driving for four years after admitting dangerous driving at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Hampshire police were called at about 12:30 GMT on 19 November to reports of a white Citroen Berlingo van driving dangerously on the M27 eastbound near Rownhams services.

Footage released by police shows officers forcing Biddle to stop following the motorway chase.

They were authorised to use tactical contact with their vehicles to bring the Citroen to a stop on the M27 between junctions 11 and 12.

Biddle, of Billy Road, Hayling Island, also admitted a charge of failing to provide a specimen.
