Three children hit by reversing car

Police have said they are attending a road traffic collision involving a car and three children in a housing development in west Belfast.

The PSNI said it received a report shortly before 17:00 BST on Sunday that the car had struck the children who were playing on the pavement in Black Ridge View as it reversed.

The children, two girls and a boy, have been taken to hospital for treatment.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol in breath, causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop, failing to report and failing to remain where an accident occurred causing injury.

He remains in custody at this time.

Police want anyone who witnessed the incident or who captured dash-cam or CCTV footage to contact police at Woodbourne.
