A third person has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 57-year-old man was found fatally injured on a bench.

Robert Brown was found on a footpath behind Auctioneers Court, Northampton, with the police called by the ambulance service at about 06:30 BST on 1 August.

Northamptonshire Police launched an investigation and had previously arrested two other people on suspicion of murder who have since been released on bail.

The force said a 32-year-old man from Northampton was arrested by officers earlier in connection with the investigation.

The force is appealing for help to “piece together” the circumstances surrounding the death

A post-mortem examination on 2 August found Mr Brown had suffered an arm wound.

Police said a 41-year-old man from Northampton was previously arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday and released on bail on Saturday.

A 38-year-old man was also previously arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday and was released on bail on the same day.

Mr Brown’s parents and brothers previously paid tribute to him and said he was “always full of fun”.

The force continued to appeal for information.
