The £2 washing machine hack that gets rid of bad smells each month

A woman has discovered a simple trick that could get rid of bad smells from your washing machine.

One of the most frequently used appliances in the house, the washing machine is vital for making sure our clothes, sheets, and towels stay clean.

But if you don’t clean your washing machine, it can start to smell. This means your clean clothes might not smell nice at all.

The Daily Record says that the wet inside of the washing machine can make clothes smell old and grim. One lady who tried lots of ways to clean her washing machine asked for help on Facebook.

She wrote on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks page, which is named after Sophie Hinchliffe. Sophie is famous on Instagram for cleaning and sharing cool tips, reports Birmingham Live.

Her message said: “Help! My washing machine stinks. I’ve tried, the clean cycle, zoflora, white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda. Help!”

Over 100 people answered her and many said the same thing – use soda crystals. Someone said: “Soda crystals on a hot wash once a month.”

One person said: “Put soda crystals in the drum and run it on a hot wash.”

Another shared: “Soda crystals do the trick on mine.”

Someone else mentioned: “I had this from using pods, I did a bicarbonate of soda crystals boil wash and switched back to powder and the horrid smell has gone – it was driving my crazy as our clothes were smelling awful.”
