A teenager charged with attempted murder has been remanded into custody from his hospital bed.

Ahmed Alameen was charged in connection with an incident in which a father and son were attacked by masked men armed with a hatchet, a hockey stick and a knife.

On Monday, Lisburn Magistrates’ Court heard Mr Alameen, of Dunvegan Street in Belfast, was not in court as he was in hospital.

The judge remanded the 18-year-old into custody on charges of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, assault, possessing weapons and possession of a class B drug.

A police officer told the court that he could connect Mr Alameen with the charges.

While the judge remanded him in custody he said Mr Alameen would, when he was able to attend court, be allowed to apply for bail.

On Saturday two other men were remanded in custody in relation to the same incident.

Jack Pedlow, 19, from Causeway Meadows in Lisburn and Michael Chitowo, 19, of no fixed abode were each charged with attempted murder, possession of weapons and drugs offences.
