Three-time speedway world champion Tai Woffinden has revealed the full extent of the injuries he suffered in a serious crash in Poland last month.

The 34-year-old, from Scunthorpe, was airlifted to hospital and placed into a medically-induced coma after he collided with a team-mate on 30 March.

Woffinden said his injuries included a double break in his right leg, a broken back, broken shoulder, multiple broken ribs, a punctured lung, fractured arm and extensive blood loss.

In a post on social media, he said it was “wild” to type the list out.

Accompanying the list of injuries, he also posted a video of himself walking with the use of a frame on a hospital ward and said it had been filmed “10 days post-coma”.

Woffinden had only just returned to the sport after he suffered a broken elbow in June, which ended his 2024 season.

He is the country’s most decorated rider after winning Grand Prix world titles in 2013, 2015 and 2018. He also finished runner-up in 2016 and 2020.
