Swansea City: Luke Williams feels pressure as ‘terrible run’ goes on

Swansea were ninth and eyeing a potential play-off push after successive post-Christmas home wins over Queens Park Rangers and Luton Town.

But since then they have taken only four points from a possible 27, while they were well beaten in the FA Cup third round at Southampton last month.

A botched January transfer window added to Swansea’s misery, with the club struggling to readjust following the sale of playmaker Matt Grimes to Coventry City.

The only good news for Williams’ side is that the gap to the bottom three has not narrowed despite this week’s defeats to Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday.

“We are eight points away from it so we need to get a few more points on the board,” Williams added.

“We have wasted a huge amount of time this season. We have gone from putting ourselves in a decent position pretty much at the halfway point to now not being able to find the level of form or consistency to get points.

“Far too many mistakes have put us in a bad position now.”
