The number of crews tackling the Suffolk coast wildfire was reduced overnight after wide ditches were dug around the site as firebreaks.
The blaze on heathland near Dunwich, which started on Wednesday evening, measured about 150 hectares at its height, the equivalent of 210 football pitches.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said six appliances remained through the early hours, down from eight the previous night, with crews monitoring the area and tackling hotspots.
“As planned, resources were increased to 10 fire appliances from 09:00 BST to support daytime operations,” a spokesman said, adding the situation “remained stable”.
They warned the fire was still a “live incident” and urged people to continue to stay away.
Ditches up to 12m wide (39ft) have been dug in the vegetation surrounding the fire to stop the flames spreading.
