Two police officers, who were spotted apparently asleep in a car, have been asked by their force to reflect on their actions.

In February, Staffordshire Police said it was investigating after a video was posted on Facebook, in which two police officers appear to be slumped asleep in a car.

The vehicle was pictured in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, on 10 February, stationary at a junction but with the car lights and the dashboard illuminated.

The vehicle was plain white and not branded in police livery, but the force has confirmed that the officers’ badge numbers, visible in the video, were consistent with its numbering.

The caption of the video read: “Sat at a junction in Fenton KFC.. asleep behind the wheel,” tagging local police accounts.

A spokesperson said the force’s professional standards department carried out a review into the circumstances surrounding the video.

“We’ve spoken to the officers at length to fully understand all of the context behind the video,” they said.

“The matter is being dealt with through a reflective practice review process.”
