Friends Amelia Shaw and Jennie Roberts are among those taking part in the inaugural She Ultra event in north Wales this week.
Organisers claim it is the UK’s first ever female-only charity ultra marathon and will see more than 500 women take on the 50km (31-mile) course on the Llyn Peninsula.
“I think the gender stereotype is that men can do things a bit faster or stronger than women, so I think just to have females only will be really cool,” said Jennie.
