The Metropolitan Police have released footage showing the arrest of a prolific shoplifter caught stealing from a Greggs store in north London.

Patrick Verry, 33, of no fixed address, is seen taking drinks from a self-service fridge at the branch on High Road, Wood Green.

Officers secured an order banning him from every Greggs store in England and Wales after he targeted the Haringey branch seven times.

Greggs has recently announced a new trial that will see self-serve food and drink items moved behind the counter in an effort to tackle rising incidents of theft.
