Steve Hubbard/BBCPolice searching for a woman who went missing from her Fenland village several weeks ago have launched a murder investigation and arrested a man as part of their inquiries.
The woman, who is in her 50s and from Christchurch near March, Cambridgeshire, has not been seen since late January.
Detectives said they were concerned enough about her welfare to treat the disappearance as a “no body” murder case.
A 47-year-old man, from Christchurch, is being questioned on suspicion of murder. The woman has yet to be named by police.
Cambridgeshire Police confirmed it had carried out a search on Grounds Avenue in March, in connection with the investigation.
Steve Hubbard/BBCDet Insp Richard Stott said: “Concern was raised for the woman last night, and due to the length of time since she was last seen and concerns that she may have come to some harm, we are treating this as a murder investigation.”
Cambridgeshire Police said they had been carrying out inquiries and searches to find the woman, “but so far to no avail”.
The arrested man remains in police custody.
