Rocky Flintoff: Lancashire batter scores 88 in One-Day Cup against Middlesex

Batting at number four in the Group A encounter on Thursday, Flintoff came to the wicket at 25-2 and, with wickets falling around him, he had to be the mainstay of the innings.

He reached 50 from 77 balls and found good support from Tom Bailey (30) as they put on 61 for the eighth wicket.

Flintoff needed to hit the last two balls of the innings for six to reach his century but he played out a dot to the penultimate ball.

Then from the last of the innings bowled by Middlesex’s Henry Brookes, he was caught on the long-off boundary by Josh de Caires, son of another former England captain, Michael Atherton from the 115th ball he had faced.
