Rhys McClenaghan: Olympic champion fails to make World Championship final

Olympic champion Rhys McClenaghan failed to reach the pommel horse final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam.

McClenaghan’s score of 14.400 in qualifying was only good enough for a 10th place finish.

It has been a disappointing return to action for the 27-year-old, who missed the entirety of 2025 as he recovered from shoulder surgery.

A two-time world champion and three-time European gold medal winner, McClenaghan finished sixth in the Commonwealth Games in July which was his first major competition since his injury.

He was then forced to settle for seventh place at the Europeans in Zagreb in August.
