Rhasidat Adeleke: Sprinter breaks Irish 100m record at National Championships

Rhasidat Adeleke broke the Irish 100m record as she claimed gold at the National Championships at Tallaght Stadium on Sunday.

Adeleke, who will compete in the 400m at the Paris Olympics this summer, claimed gold with a time of 11.13 seconds.

She beat the 11.27 record that Sarah Lavin, who finished second, had set last year.

The Dublin native now holds all the Irish women’s sprint records.

Kate O’Connor aided her cause for qualifying for the heptathlon event in Paris as she won the javelin and finished second in the shot putt on Saturday.

In the UK Championships, 17-year-old Phoebe Gill won gold in the 800m to qualify for Paris.
