Jonathan Hill, the Football Association of Ireland’s Chief Executive Officer, will leave the organisation at the end of April.
Hill has been in his role since November 2020.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the FAI said an interim CEO will be appointed followed by “a structured search for a full-time successor”.
FAI President Paul Cooke added: “Jonathan has worked incredibly hard in creating the solid foundations for growth and I am sure the Board, executive and staff can now build on those foundations to create real change for the largest participation sport in the country.
“I wish Jonathan every success in the future.”
Hill has been involved in the search to find a permanent manager for the Republic of Ireland men’s national team.
Stephen Kenny’s contract was not renewed in November with former Manchester United defender John O’Shea taking temporary charge during the pair of friendlies last month.
