Rayner ‘upset’ by accusations of aggression at Grenfell meeting

In her first interview since the decision to demolish Grenfell Tower was announced, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner was pressed by Laura Kuenssberg on her behaviour during a recent meeting with survivors and the believed.

She told the BBC that there was “never going to be a consensus”, on what to do about the building where 72 people lost their lives in the devastating fire of 2017.

She said she had come to a decision that the “only way forward really was to sensitively make sure that we start taking the tower to ground level, but that we have a lasting memorial on that site”.
