Protesters target Serbian ruling party offices in demonstrations

Protesters smashed the windows of offices belonging to the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, on the fifth consecutive night of unrest across Serbia.

Serbian President Aleksander Vučić has warned that protesters who attacked his party’s offices will be punished, after riot police were deployed to several cities on Saturday night.

Anti-government demonstrations have gripped Serbia since November last year, when a railway roof collapsed, killing 16 people. Protesters say the incident was symbolic of deep-rooted corruption in the country, and have since called for Vučić to step down.
