Police name two women who died in crash on A46

Police have named two of the three women who died in a single-vehicle collision on the A46 in Leicestershire.

Emergency services were called shortly after 01:00 GMT on Saturday after a blue BMW 5 series left the road between Thrussington and Sileby.

The force said Neeru Patel and Bhamini Karsan, both 42 and from Leicester, died along with another woman whose family has asked not to be named at this time.

A 37-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue, the force added.

In a statement issued through the force, Ms Patel’s family said she lived a life “rooted in love, compassion and quiet faith”.

“Her gentle spirit and selfless kindness touched many within our world, often in ways unseen but deeply felt,” they said.

“Though she is no longer with us, her love, her kindness, and her values live on through her two beautiful children and in the hearts of all who knew her.

Ms Karsan’s family said in a statement, also issued through the police, that she was “deeply loved” by her family.

“Bhamini was a loving and devoted mother, wife, and daughter, remembered for her warm and bubbly personality and her kindness to others,” they said.

“She was deeply loved by her family and cherished by friends and the wider community.

“At this extremely difficult time, the family respectfully but firmly request privacy and space to grieve and ask that their wishes are fully respected by the media and the public.”
