Man dies after suffering head injuries at Whitley Bay funfair

A man has died after being injured at a seaside fairground.

Northumbria Police said officers were called to Spanish City, in Whitley Bay, shortly before 14:15 BST to reports of a man in his 20s being injured in a workplace accident.

The force said the man had suffered head injuries and died a short time later.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is investigating the death, police confirmed.

Police also said the Spanish City Summer Funfair, which had been due to run over the bank holiday weekend, would “remain closed until further notice”.
