Peterborough lake searched as teen goes missing during swim

A 16-year-old boy is missing after getting into difficulty while swimming with friends in a Peterborough lake.

Emergency services were called to Crown Lakes near Farcet at 16:00 BST.

Cambridgeshire Police said search teams remained at the scene on Thursday evening to find the boy.

“We ask that members of the public stay away from the area while this work is carried out. The boy’s family are aware,” a spokesperson said.

Residents posting on social media reported seeing a number of police, fire and ambulance vehicles at the lake.

Pictures from the scene showed emergency crews in boats on the water.
