Passenger, 81, killed after car crashes into Oldham bungalow

One person has died and another is fighting for their life after a car smashed into a bungalow in Oldham.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the Fiat 500 crashed into the house on Dorset Avenue, just off Huddersfield Road in Diggle, at about 09:17 GMT on Monday.

A force spokesperson said: “The passenger, aged 81, died at the scene. The driver, aged 75, remains in a critical condition.”

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) has appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.

GMP said the Fiat 500 crossed a junction before hitting the bungalow.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said crews first arrived at 09:20 GMT. Three fire engines from Oldham, Mossley and Stalybridge attended the scene.

“Firefighters arrived quickly to make the vehicle safe and remove one person from the vehicle,” said a spokesperson.

“Crews were in attendance for roughly two hours.”
