Para surfer Llywelyn Williams retains world crown

Llywelyn Williams has won a gold medal for the third consecutive year at the ISA Para Surfing World Championships in California.

Williams, from Abersoch, has now triumphed in the men’s kneeling/upright category in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Dariel Melendez Davila of Costa Rice finished in second ahead of Chile’s Altair Olivares at Huntington Beach.

Williams’ fellow Welshman Isaac Heaher came 12th.

Since Williams began competing in the championships, he has reached the finals on eight occasions.

He had his leg amputated when he was 16-years-old after being hit by a car while skateboarding.
