‘Other side of Moss Side’ revealed on alleys walking trail

A walking trail of alleys which have been transformed into green spaces will showcase “the other side” of a city district.

Mark Edwards, a resident of Moss Side in Manchester, said the area “is let down by these presumptions it’s not a nice place”.

He had the idea for the trail in the “beautiful neighbourhood” after improving a local alley and noticing similar ones.

The trial – which takes place on Sunday – includes 12 alleys and green spaces.

They have been cleared for flowers, fruit and vegetables, with bath tubs and washing machine drums being used to grow plants.
