‘Operatic royalty’ surprises singers in Bradford

Bradford City football fans were shocked when they got an unexpected masterclass from an English soprano singer.

The ‘Bantam of the Opera’ choir had its first rehearsal on 27 February, with Lesley Garrett the surprise guest.

The choir is made up of 50 supporters, who are all being taught to sing opera as part of a BBC Radio Leeds challenge for the UK City of Culture.

Lesley Garrett is one of the campaign’s ambassadors and will support the choir on their journey from the stands to the stage.
