Nine men have been arrested after police found what they believe to be a vehicle “chop shop” in a West Yorkshire village.
Officers discovered car parts belonging to Mercedes and BMWs, believed to have been stolen, at Fair Lea Mill in Luddendenfoot, Calderdale, on Wednesday morning.
Chop shops are sites where criminals strip stolen cars and sell on the parts for cash.
The suspects, who are aged between 22 and 51, were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, before later being released pending further inquiries.
Det Insp Suzanne Corkindale, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “We have found evidence to suggest this site was being used for an organised criminal operation involving stolen vehicles and related vehicle crime.
“We know that vehicle theft is a big concern in West Yorkshire, and we hope our action taken to shut down this site will help to reassure our communities that we take their concerns seriously.”
