NI weather: Strong winds for Northern Ireland on Thursday

It is also expecting some disruption to road, rail, air, and ferry services, as well as some temporary loss of services including electricity supplies.

Coupled with the winds, some heavy and persistent rain is also expected.

Westerly or northwesterly winds are forecast to bring gusts between 60-70 mph along exposed coastal areas, especially around the North Channel and Irish Sea.

Inland areas can expect gusts of between 40-50 mph, with conditions likely to persist into the evening.
