Nasa astronaut films the Northern Lights from space

Nasa astronaut Zena Cardman captured the glow of the Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, from above on the 17 November while aboard the International Space Station.

“I’ve still never seen the aurora from below, but up here, it’s a frequent show,” she said.

Cardman is serving as commander for Nasa’s SpaceX Crew-11 mission, which left Earth on 1 August, according to Nasa.

She has encouraged viewers of the footage to look for Houston and Florida while watching.
