Former England international Kieran Brookes has signed a two-year deal with Munster.

The 35-year-old tight-head joins the Irish province after two seasons with Top14 side Perpignan as head coach Clayton McMillan strengthens his pack in the build-up to the new United Rugby Championship season.

Brookes represented Ireland at U20 level before the Stoke-born front row switched to England where he won 16 Test caps which included appearances at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

“I’m incredibly proud and excited to be joining Munster Rugby,” said Brookes, who has also had spells with Toulon, Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints and Wasps.

“It’s a club with a rich history and a unique identity.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the fans, working alongside the players and coaches, and giving everything I can to contribute to the success of the club. I can’t wait to get started and experience what it means to be part of Munster Rugby.”
