Morgan Morse: Wales back row signs new Ospreys deal

Wales back row forward Morgan Morse has committed his future to Ospreys.

The announcement comes on the same day it was confirmed Wales captains Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake will leave the Swansea-based side to join Gloucester next season.

Morse, 20, won a record 24 Wales Under-20s caps and made his senior international debut in November’s loss against New Zealand, also before appearing in Wales’ record home defeat by South Africa seven days later.

Ospreys have not revealed the duration of the new deal, but say Morse’s contract extension demonstrates their “continued commitment to securing its brightest young talent”.

“Morsey has a bright career ahead of him and is part of a strong core of young talent we have within the team, so it’s a great moment for the club to have him re-sign with us,” said Ospreys head coach Mark Jones.

“He is a player that is capable of some real X-factor moments and to be a successful side, you need players like him in your squad.”

Morse said: “This team means a lot to me and I’m really happy to be continuing at the club where my professional career began.

“There’s a great group of boys and staff here who have all played an important part in my development. I’m looking forward to building on that going forward and helping the team in whatever way I can.”
