Men stuck in frozen lake in Epping Forest in dog rescue

Footage captured by a member of the public shows two men struggling to escape after falling through ice at a frozen lake after an attempted dog rescue.

The pair were treated by the ambulance service after getting into difficulties at Connaught Water in Epping Forest on Sunday at about 14:20 GMT.

According to Essex Fire and Rescue Service one person fell through ice in an attempt to rescue a dog, and a passer-by then entered the water to try to help.

The dog was safely reunited with its owners, but the fire service urged people not to go on to frozen water and instead call the emergency services if in a similar situation.
