Manchester: Stolen car smashes into front of house, police say

A stolen Mercedes smashed into the front of a house, causing extensive damage, police have said.

No-one was hurt in the crash, which happened shortly before 06:15 GMT in Harrop Street in the Abbey Hey area of east Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police said a 19-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of burglary and driving offences while a second man had fled the scene.

Detectives believe the Mercedes was stolen from Butterton Drive, about 500 yards away from the crash scene.
