A man who was pulled from the sea at Withernsea, East Yorkshire on Friday has been named.

Mark Ratcliffe, 67, was pulled unconscious from the water and died at the scene, Humberside Police said.

In a tribute, his family said he was “a true selfless hero with a heart of gold, who was so cruelly taken trying to save others.”

Police said another body recovered on Friday evening was that of a 45-year-old woman. Officers are continuing to search for the one remaining missing person, they said.
