Man using walking aid to cross road dies after Blackburn hit-and-run

An 81-year-old man who used a walking frame has died following a hit-and-run involving a motorbike in West Lothian.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing Bathgate Road in Blackburn when he was struck at about 19:15 on Friday.

The suspect abandoned the bike and made off from the scene.

The man, who has not been named, died from his injuries at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh on Tuesday.

Sgt Jen Niven said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are following a positive line of inquiry and would urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to please come forward, external.”
