A man has been injured in a gun attack in north Belfast.
The man, aged in his late 30s, is said to have been shot once in each leg in Strathroy Park just before 20:00 GMT on Tuesday.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said an ambulance attended to the victim and his injuries while very severe, were not likely to be fatal.
Local residents will notice a heavy police presence in the area, according to the PSNI.
Det Sgt Long said the attack had “caused fear and disruption in the very community those responsible for this criminal act claim to protect”.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
