Emergency services were called to a report of a disturbance on Hamilton Drive in Airdrie

A man has died and another was taken to hospital after a disturbance at a house in North Lanarkshire.

Police were called to an incident on Hamilton Drive in Airdrie at about 00:15.

A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 27-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he is said to be in a stable condition.

Det Insp Gary Smillie said: “Extensive inquiries into the incident are ongoing and there will remain a police presence in the area at this time.”
