Man charged over police officer hit-and-run murder bid

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer by hitting him with a stolen car in Edinburgh.

The 21-year-old allegedly fled the scene at Dumbryden Gardens in the Wester Hailes area in the early hours of Friday morning after striking a male officer who was attempting to stop the vehicle.

The officer required hospital treatment, but has since been released.

The car was found abandoned nearby and the man later arrested.
