Man arrested over murder of schoolgirl Lindsay Rimer in 1994

A man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of 13-year-old Lindsay Rimer, who went missing from her home in West Yorkshire in 1994.

The teenager left her home in Hebden Bridge, near Halifax, on 7 November to buy cornflakes from a nearby shop, but never returned.

Lindsay’s body was found five months later, weighted down with a stone in the Rochdale Canal, about a mile from the town centre.

West Yorkshire Police said a man was arrested on Monday at an undisclosed UK prison where he was serving a sentence for other offences.
