A 34-year-old man has been charged after a car was driven into a row of shops in Inverness and set on fire.

Several units at Fairways Business Park were destroyed in the overnight blaze on Saturday 8 March.

Police Scotland said officers had arrested a man and charged him with wilful fire-raising.

Det Insp Caroline MacKay said: “As the investigation into this fire continues, we would like to thank the local community for their co-operation and support.”

Footage shows fire damaged units at Fairways Business Park in Inverness

A fish shop, travel agent, bakers, barbers and hairdressers were torched in the blaze.

An individual in dark clothing and a balaclava had been seen running from the incident.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. There were no injuries.

The 34-year-old man is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court later.
