Firefighters are tackling a major blaze that has taken hold at a former primary school building in North Lanarkshire.
Six Scottish Fire and Rescue crews, alongside specialist resources and aerial appliances, were called to the former Greenhill Primary School site in Coatbridge at about 17:20.
Images from the scene showed the building was badly damaged with flames shooting from the roof.
Police Scotland said parts of West George Street and Coltswood Road were closed and people living nearby were advised to keep their windows closed.
The building dates from 1902 and served as a primary school for more than a century until its closure in 2012.
