Two men arrested by the Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) in connection with a serious assault in Lifford, County Donegal, have been released on bail.

A man in his 20s was airlifted to hospital in Belfast after he and his father were attacked at a house on the Coneyburrow Road area of the town on Monday morning.

His father, who is in his 60s, was brought to Letterkenny University Hospital by ambulance for less serious injuries.

The PSNI are assisting colleagues in An Garda Síochána (the Irish Police Service) with the investigation.
