Knitting Christmas gifts for newborn babies at Oxford hospital

Every year for 10 years, Kathy Burke has knitted gifts for babies staying in hospital on Christmas Eve.

This year she created 50 elves for the Special Care Baby Unit at The John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Oxfordshire.

Ms Burke said: “All I know is that they’re poorly babies and if I can give them a little toy for a little bit of love that is all I need.”

Her daughter Caroline works at the hospital and delivers the toys for her on Christmas Eve.

In previous years Ms Burke has knitted angels, teddy bears, snowmen and robins.
