Keep onions fresh ‘for months’ with unusual storage tip using everyday item

If you have some stockings lying around, you can use them to store your onions. 

There are methods to make your fruits and vegetables last longer, but what that is depends on the food. For bananas, putting tin foil on the stems will help them last. And peppers should be kept in the crisper drawer. 

Onions have a more unusual trick, involving tights or stockings. They should be kept in a place with airflow. 

That’s where the stockings come in. Blogger Brooklyn Farm Girl has a technique to store onions and make them last for months.

“This will prevent them from spoiling one another if one goes bad.  It also will allow you to take one onion out a time, as you will cut one out,” she said. 

Keep doing that until the stocking is full. Then store the stockings in a cool dry place. 

This method will make the onions last for months.
